Buddy Walk

The Buddy Walk was so much fun.  I went with my best little buddy, my sister Karen.  I did not let her walk.It was a ton of fun though.  She is a really good sport.

I had so much fun with my sister Karen. She totally cracks me up.  I picked her up at 7:00 am , I have never seen her look so tired.  We drove to the race and and got checked in.  She leaned over and said, "I am getting more excited, I can see about 15 people I think I can dust."  It made me laugh so hard.  I told her looks can be deceiving.
The run was really pretty it was along the South Jordan River trail.  I was so proud of Karen.  She pretty much ran the whole way with a little bit of encouragement and prodding.  Right when we got to the turn around we looked behind us and the Police Academy was chasing us (they were really just running behind us).  This was so hilarious.  I told Karen to imagine that they were "the others" on Lost, and that they were chasing us.  I kept telling her to run faster, so that they wouldn't catch us.  She was saying "I can't I am not as strong as they are."  I said, "of course you're not as strong as they are, they grew up on the island."  We had so much fun laughing and running.  I think that we actually ended up dusting about 5 people, a couple looked like they might have had knee injuries though.

"In running, it doesn't matter whether you come
in first,in the middle of the pack, or last.
You can say 'I have finished.
There is a lot of satisfaction in that."

This 5K was for an Eagle project.  It was a lot of fun.  They are supposed to call us with the actual statistics.  My time was approximately 34 minutes.

I recently read a statement that said,
"I have never seen a pancake so thin,
that it didn't have two sides"

This is Karen's side of the story copied straight from her blog:

Today I woke up really early... I'm talking early 6:45 (It was really neat to see what morning looks like!) My sister Jenny is obsessed with 5K runs. So when I got a flier on my door for a 5K last week, I called her up and told her I would do it with her. (only because it is really close to my house and if I get to tired I could go home.)
Ben couldn't believe I was doing it
and thought I was crazy because I NEVER run!!!

The 5K was for an Eagle Scout Project and all the money raised went to the National Down Syndrome foundation. When we got to the park and signed in there were about 50 or so people there. I was looking around and told Jenny " I was happy because it looked like I could dust quite a few people" come to find out looks are deceiving!!! It was quite hard running, jogging or trying to walk (if your sister will let you)...when you never do it!!!

Jenny has been running for sometime now and is very energetic!!! She stayed with me the whole time and kept trying to give me words of encouragement. I was trying my best and keeping a pretty good pace, right as we got to the turn around mark... Yep, (not my lucky day) the entire South Jordan fire squad was running right behind us...(We all know Jenny and Firemen) she started running a lot faster and it was really hard to keep up... She kept saying they were the "others" and they were trying to get us... Thank goodness they turned around and went the other way after a while!!!
I am really proud of myself my time was
35:41
I'm so glad I didn't come in last place...
I wonder if Jenny will ever ask me to do a 5K with her again?

Just for the record I would love to do another 5K with her!
